PRESS RELEASE
DIHI and Nusatic 2025 Strengthen Synergy to Boost Indonesia’s Ornamental Fish Exports to the Global Market

For Immediate Release
Jakarta, June 25, 2025 – The Indonesian Ornamental Fish Council (DIHI) and Nusantara Aquatic (Nusatic) 2025 have officially entered a strategic partnership to strengthen Indonesia’s ornamental fish export ecosystem. The collaboration aims to expand global market access through enhanced promotion, education, and international business matchmaking during the Nusatic 2025 exhibition held at ICE BSD, June 20–22, 2025.
“We believe Nusatic is not just an exhibition, but a stage for Indonesia’s ornamental fish trade diplomacy,” said Dr. Suseno Sukoyono, Chairman of DIHI. “This partnership opens broader pathways for small businesses and national exporters to penetrate the global market.”
At Nusatic 2025, DIHI played an active role by organizing a talk show titled Indonesia’s Ornamental Fish Industry: Unlocking Export Potential through Beauty in Diversity, focusing on export education and advocacy for the simplification of ornamental fish export regulations. Nusatic 2025 featured over 100 exhibitors and attracted buyers from more than 30 countries ready to forge trade agreements.
According to 2024 data from the Ministry of Marine Affairs and Fisheries (KKP) – Aquaculture Export Statistics Report, Indonesia’s ornamental fish exports reached US$78 million, marking a 20% increase from the previous year. Indonesia now ranks 5th globally in tropical ornamental fish exports, as recorded by ITC Trademap and the CITES Global Trade Report 2023. This potential is expected to grow along with the strengthening of national branding through international events like Nusatic.
This collaboration also aligns with KKP’s directive to incorporate ornamental fish into the National Movement for Proud Local Products and to promote sustainable, conservation-based export strategies, as outlined in Ministerial Regulation No. 17/2009 on the Control of Harmful and/or Dangerous Fish Species.
To support industry development, DIHI also highlights the importance of building competent human resources in the ornamental fish sector. In 2023, seven ornamental fish entrepreneurs affiliated with DIHI collectively supported the establishment of a Professional Certification Institute (LSP) for Ornamental Fish, in collaboration with the National Professional Certification Agency (BNSP). By 2025, the LSP had implemented competency testing under two initial schemes, with plans to expand to five schemes in the near future to improve workforce quality in the national ornamental fish industry.

Since the first Nusatic was held in 2016, DIHI has played a consistent and formative role in shaping the exhibition as a strategic platform for national branding and policy dialogue. As a long-time supporter, DIHI has regularly contributed to Nusatic’s seminar series, talk shows, and technical discussions with stakeholders—particularly empowering small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in ornamental fish trade.
At Nusatic 2025, DIHI strengthened this legacy by organizing a talk show titled “Indonesia’s Ornamental Fish Industry: Unlocking Export Potential through Beauty in Diversity.” This session focused on export literacy, market access, and regulatory simplification—key themes that DIHI has championed for over a decade. The event was attended by exporters, breeders, and emerging aquascapers from across Indonesia, highlighting the ecosystem-wide commitment to grow the industry inclusively.
This continuity reaffirms DIHI’s long-standing commitment to ensuring that Indonesia’s ornamental fish sector grows competitively and inclusively, from grassroots aquarists to global exporters.
